National Highways have issued an amber severe weather alert for gales in the North West, North East and Yorkshire regions of the country for Friday 24th January at 07:00 (7am) until 22:00 (10pm).

The M20 in Kent is closed in both directions between J8 (Hollingbourne) and J10 (Maidstone) for a police led incident

The M25 in Buckinghamshire is closed clockwise between J15 (M4) near Slough and J16 (M40) near Uxbridge due to a medical emergency.

The A1 in Tyne & Wear is closed southbound between J66 and J65 for emergency roadworks.

The A38 in Cornwall is closed eastbound between the A390 (Liskeard) and A374 (Trerulefoot) following a serious collision involving a motorbike and a cycle.
